F.A.Q.s

Why aren't we open on Saturday?

Thank you for asking about a Saturday market. This year the Collierville Farmers Market will be open Thursdays from 8 am to 1 pm. Because Shelby County is crowded with Saturday markets, opening our market on Thursday offers you the best vendor selection. In addition, it takes quite a few volunteers run the market and at the present time we have volunteers to run the market only one day. If you wish to shop for local produce on other days of the week, please see our Links page for the web sites of several other local farmers markets.

Why do vendors take their produce out of non-local packing boxes?

Some of our vendors use cardboard boxes with Florida or other non-local labels because the boxes are very sturdy and durable. They purchase the boxes second hand for a small fraction of the cost of new boxes, and use them to haul their own produce from their farms to markets. Reusing these boxes is frugal and environmentally friendly. They are not unloading Florida produce at the Collierville market.
